I have a brand new pair of Ugg Boots and I’ve sprayed them with a suede weather proofer, but I was caught in an absolute downpour. These boots were a beautiful soft tan suede and are now rough, dry, and a really bad sandy color. I can never wear them again like this, so I wondered if it is possible to restore suede back to the way it was. If there is, is it a lot of money? Are there any suede/leather experts out there?

There is a natural oil in leather, and the rain has washed it off, and as or if I remember correctly the weatherproofer is supposed to set for 24 hrs before you get them wet. I was told with the purchase of my UGGs to wash them about every 6 months in the washer in Woolite on delicate and hang them up to dry, folding down the calf part to expose more of the fleece. I do know that you can put them in the dryer (on one of the racks designed for a dryer for the air to circulate around the shoes or boots and not tumble them)on low setting. Try putting them in the dryer on low for about 6 minutes and see if they soften up. A little tumbling wont hurt them. It should help them. If this helps, try using a soft bristled brush and brush the suede. As far as the color change, the leather dye was poorly applied in the first place and has run because of the rain. And Leather Dye is available thru TANDY Leather, I dont have the site, just search it. UGG boots can be restored by UGG, it isnt as expensive as buying a new pair, and they do have a warranty, for 1 year as I remember, if bought from a reputable dealer. UGG’s are supposed to be able to handle the snow slush without damage. I would think UGG would stand behind your pair as well. Dry Cleaners will send them out to a Leather Restorer, takes about 2 weeks, and I dont know of the cost.Or the exactness of the colormatch, but they will come back soft. Maybe 30 bucks. Good Luck.
Try brushing them with a soft brush…
